Finneas Scored All Eight Episodes of 'Beef' Season 2
Finneas is officially expanding his résumé well beyond the Billie Eilish universe. The producer, songwriter, and now increasingly prolific composer has been tapped to score the second season of Netflix's Beef, spending a full 12 months crafting original music across all eight episodes of the anthology series.
The new season — which premieres April 16 — features a stacked cast that includes Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Cailee Spaeny, and Charles Melton. If Beef's first season is any indication (it swept multiple Emmys and became one of Netflix's most critically praised originals), the bar is high. Bringing Finneas in to handle the score suggests the show's creative team isn't interested in playing it safe.
"Spent the last 12 months in BEEF land. All eight episodes out April 16, all original music by me. Very grateful to Sonny for involving me, very grateful for the incredible performances from the entire cast; I probably watched every scene 100 times while I scored the show and I felt it every time. True fan of this show, very honored and proud to be a part of it," Finneas told NME.
“But Beef is a different tier of visibility — a flagship Netflix property with massive audience reach and awards-season expectations baked in.”
This isn't Finneas's first time composing for screen. He previously scored the indie films The Fallout and Vengeance, and handled music for Alfonso Cuarón's Apple TV+ series Disclaimer. He also recently composed Apple TV+'s new theme tune. But Beef is a different tier of visibility — a flagship Netflix property with massive audience reach and awards-season expectations baked in.
It's worth remembering just how decorated this guy already is. Two Oscars. Eleven Grammys. Most of that hardware came from his collaborative work with his sister, but his scoring work has been quietly building into its own lane. The Beef assignment is his most prominent TV gig to date, and it positions him as a serious name in the film and television composing space — not just a pop-world wunderkind moonlighting behind a DAW.
With the season dropping in mid-April, expect the conversation around Finneas's score to pick up quickly — especially if the show lands with the same critical force as its predecessor. Keep an eye on whether this opens the door to even bigger scoring opportunities down the line.
